What's next in hypermedia technology?

Friday, October 24, 2008

Fingers on the keyboard; eyes transfixed on the monitor.

Click. Click. Click. Clack. Clack. Clack.

How's the hypermedia technology changing your lifestyle?

The hypermedia technology has been man's best friend. PC applications, softwares, mobile products and services, the Internet and other forms of hypermedia have been making people's life easier. Many people have compiled a litany of its benefits and surely many of us are hooked; even addicted so some extent.

How many days can you survive without your PC and Internet connection?

Information. Communication. Entertainment. Shopping. Building relationship and communities. Earning money. These are just few of the many things we can do on-line.

What aspects of the Internet are very useful?
what aspects are detrimental and have negative effects on us?
What are the innovations that you hope to see about hypermedia in the future?

As an observer, I just couldn't help thinking how it will be like ten, twenty or fifty years from now. If we look back, many things happened in the span of 30-40 years.

I am excited but a little apprehensive. The world is getting smaller and smaller. People from other parts of the world can pry at what I am doing or at which specific coordinate axis on earth's surface am I sitting, or standing or lying. Even if I am not doing anything wrong, the fact that satellites can track me down... pinpoint me at any time gives me jitters. I have nowhere to hide.

Seriously, what's next?

the internet is breaking geographical boundaries creating a digital community among its users.

it's pretty cool that people in the opposite sides of the world can offer their ideas to each other, give tips and advice.

some businesses have already tapped into this growing media as the outsourcing companies, pay per posts and the like. everything is revolutionizing very quickly. i can't wait for what will happen next! The downside though is, what we know now now may likely be obsolete in a couple more months so learning quickly and constantly is essential.

Yes, I agree. The world become smaller and smaller. And people tend more to be "unsocialized". They prefer to spend most of their times in front of the computer. Making some new friends in the internet instead of visiting their neighbours or friends around them. I'm not really sure which one is the best. But hope there's some kind of compromise between our real world and internet world.

Everything becomes dependent on computers.

When electricity's busted in a storm, I realize how I miss using a computer.

When I use a computer, I realize I miss being with my loved ones.

Hmm.. even employers can just dig in to my blogs and see deeper into my personality. Indeed, I have nowhere to hide too.

@kwagoo

yeah, especially if we want to keep abreast, we have to continually keep up with the changing trends

as a programmer, especially, we always have to learn the new and emerging technologies or we will be out of job :-)

and what you said is true, everything is revolutionizing so fast!

nakakahilo minsan :-)

@tigis

good point! we have time to meet people on line but we have no time to socialize with friends and neighbors

and i think there will come a time when people don't have to get out of their houses anymore - just transact everything online

and yes, I am not sure as you are if it is a good thing

some people just can't distinguish the virtual and the real world....

I found this interesting but strange news in Yahoo...
Online divorcee jailed after killing virtual hubby

haha... people are getting weird

@gem

Everything becomes dependent on computers.

I agree!

everything... almost everything so far

and we share the same sentiment about missing PC/loved ones

sometimes, I feel that I am abusing it, so from time to time, I have day off from PC and other digital media

It made life easier for me, it made many things possible, it widened my view

How many days can you survive without your PC and Internet connection?
I can survive even for hundreds of days without any connection at all :) yes it's true. Probably at the first few days i'll be itching all over for connection, but after a week I'd be able to adjust :0

What aspects of the Internet are very useful?
I can access money through it nye he he he, I can also access high quality videos every night through it nye he he he and most of all I can accesss information through it. I can also meet a lot of pretty beautiful people in the internet like Pchi, Gem, and Berry :P

what aspects are detrimental and have negative effects on us? It steals sleep away from us! it is addicting! it exposes us to PORN!!!

What are the innovations that you hope to see about hypermedia in the future? I hope to be able to download actual items like shoes, cars, food, hardware, etc nye he he he

Seriously, what's next?
anything unimaginable is possible :) it would always be something that we least expect :)
